THE COTSWOLD COMPANY LAUNCH THEIR SUMMER RANGE

Kayla and Amanda were at hand to help The Cotswold Company launch their new ranges to a host of national and consumer journalists on January 26, in the appropriately themed Forest Room at The Hospital Club, London. The invitation only event was attended by over 20 journalists, all eager to get a glimpse of the new products, from key consumer publications including Country Homes & Interiors, Prima, SHE, Sunday Mirror, and 25 Beautiful Homes. BTCV – A great result!

The first North Norfolk Workout Project has now launched at Holt Country Park and has been a great success.

Back in July 09 Shorthose Russell’s challenge was to get the best publicity for the ‘workouts’, promoting all 3 locations, Holt Country Park, Pigneys Wood and Sadler’s Wood.

Compiling an exhaustive distribution list of venues to send the literature, designing and printing various sized posters to promote these events and arranging media coverage has all now paid off!

The ‘workouts’ have attracted excellent attention and have been mentioned by North Norfolk Radio and have had articles printed in both the North Norfolk News & the EDP.

To celebrate the project’s launch, the team at Shorthose Russell have kindly been invited to the Christmas bonfire & BBQ, which is to be held on 14th December, this will also be a great opportunity for us to meet with some of the volunteers.

This has been an enjoyable challenge for the team at Shorthose Russell and a success for BTCV - a perfect partnership!

Well done all.

Pretty in Pink!

To mark Breast Cancer day, which is on Friday 30th October, the team at Shorthose Russell decided to dress up in pink, to coincide with The Macmillan BIG Coffee morning we all brought in edible pink goodies.

On a typical day the SRL meeting table is normally full of brochures, leaflets and other marketing literature but this morning it was adorned with pink Bon Bons, pink smoked salmon blinis, bruschetta topped with cream cheese & pink prawns, pink Ardennes pate on savoury biscuits, pink lemonade and pink Lady apples.

At 11.00am we downed tools, put the kettle on and enjoyed 15 minutes of pure pink pleasure tucking into the variety of goodies on offer.

A fun morning was had by all and a total of £30.62 was raised, which will be shared between Breast Cancer and The Macmillan Fund!

Well done everyone!

Supporting our ’Green’ charity - BTCV...

BTCV is a national charity that recruits volunteers to work on conservation projects around the country.

Their new ’Workout Project’ involves three separate locations within North Norfolk – Holt Country Park, Pigneys Wood & Sadler’s Wood, the aim is to recruit people over the age of 16 to help improve health and well being and to provide outdoor practical environmental activities within the community.

Our job was to help promote the new Workout Projects and to recruit as many volunteers as possible. We started by compiling a comprehensive database consisting of many different outlets through-out North Norfolk where BTCV could advertise the need for volunteers.

Using photography from previous BTCV projects, we designed and printed in-house various sized posters inviting volunteers along to help at any of the three locations.

Lastly we designed an information leaflet/enquiry form, which explained more about the projects and how to get involved and who to contact.

On the 12th October 09, Holt Country Park was launched as the first location for the North Norfolk Workout Project.

We wish BTCV all the very best of luck with these projects and hope to get involved on the Community Days which are planned for Nov 09, Feb, May & Sept 2010.

If you would like to find out more about these Workout Projects or the Community Days then please visit the BTCV website, www.btcv.org.uk

Philippa Forester’s Top Tips for Energy Saving

Our client, Anglian Home Improvements, teamed up with TV presenter - and all round lovely person - Philippa Forester to draw attention to the amount of energy wasted through uninsulated windows, supporting the theme of this years Energy Saving Week (19 - 25 October) which is ‘waste’.

14 radio stations interviewed Philippa and Melanie Russell, Head of Marketing and Communications at Anglian, picking up top tips for energy savings and some great PR along the way. Anglian are also encouraging homeowners to sign up to the Glass and Glazing Federations windows scrappage scheme which works along the same lines as the car scrappage scheme, swapping old windows for energy efficient double glazed units. Jeans for Genes

Friday 2 October was national Jeans for Genes day and we all jumped at the chance to put on our favourite denims for a good cause. A donation of £2 each was needed to particpate and between us we raised a nice little sum of £23 - so thanks to everyone for taking part! There are more than 4000 known genetic disorders, many currently without a treatment or cure so this money will go towards important research and support services to help children and families. Hello James!

James Pearson is a student, Norfolk born and bred, but is studying economics at The University of Bath.

He was able to spend a weeks worth of work experience at Shorthose Russell Ltd to expand his knowledge about a potential career in marketing or PR.

The time spent here enabled him to gain a greater awareness of what the job involved and the processes used within the industry. James had a great time, whilst witnessing the joys and banter of the office.

Just another two years for him at university until he’s going to have to confirm whether the time spent at Shorthose Russell Ltd swayed him to the ways of a career in marketing or PR.
